We just launched the new church website design for Hillside Fellowship in Spring Branch, Texas. Working with their team was a fantastic experience and it appears that we hit the nail on the head.
Hillside came to REACHRIGHT looking to update an old Flash based website. Flash is an out of date computer language that made for very long load times. With Flash, Mobile users were completely out of luck and today that represents over half of all your website visitors.
Hillside wanted a new site that told a story about their church that was engaging to visitors and needed to get a serious update to their technology.
So nice to have the new site up! We’ve had so much positive feedback! Y’all did such an amazing job!Dani Hamilton, Hillside Fellowship
Hillside New Church Website Design Features
Like all of our projects, what we did for Hillside was unique to their church. Here are a few things that really make their site stand out.
Live Steam Integration
The Hillside team offers a live stream of their services each week. On the old site, a user had to click-through several pages to get to the live stream which took them off of their website. One of the goals in web design is to keep people on your site for as long as possible.
To fix this we set up the home page to receive an embed code for their live stream of their service each week. Now, when someone wants to watch live they just need to get to the church’s homepage.
Right when you get onto the site you are immediately engaged with a compelling photo that captures a baptism at Hillside. The old adage that a picture is worth a thousand words has never been truer than in new church website design.
The site is full of photography that tells you more about the church than the words on the page. People are drawn to ministries because of how they make them feel, not because of what they say.
Hillside has a lot of events at any given time. On the old site, they used a cumbersome calendar that members complained about.
In the new design, the calendar is set up in categories, and the user is able to filter the events so that it will only display the events they are looking for. The goal is that church members will never be able to say: “I didn’t know that was happening!”
